Today, We Leap

Simon | February 29, 2008

feb-29.jpg

Once every 4 years, we arrive at this unfamiliar date of February 29. To most of us, this day bares little significance. After all, the sole purpose of adding this extra day to the year is for the calendar to stay coordinated with the sun’s position.

But I found out a strange tradition that occurs only on February 29. On this day, ladies may ask gentlemen for their hands in marriage. I kid you not. So girls, if you are sick of waiting for your other half to come up with that proposal, today is the day for you to pop the question. Grab this chance while you can ladies, it don’t happen too often.

Come to think of it though, wouldn’t it be weird for a lady to go down on her bended knees and propose to a guy with a diamond ring? First of all, I don’t think diamond is a man’s best friend. And if you see a lady down on her knees in front of a man in public, you’ll probably be calling the police. For all you know, that poor girl might be begging for her life from her psychopath boy friend.

No wonder this tradition hasn’t caught on.

Blog Enhancements

Simon | February 23, 2008

Guess what? I’m so free this couple of days that I spent most of my time adding new features to my blog.

I’ve added reCAPTCHA for comment spam prevention. You wouldn’t believe how many spam comments I need manually filter and delete every day. It’s a major pain in the back end. Hopefully reCAPTCHA would reduce if not completely eradicate comment spam on my blog. If you have no idea what I’m babbling about, try to post a comment, you’ll see what reCAPTCHA is all about.

Second neat feature, Lightbox for my gallery. What the bleep is Lightbox you asked? Allow me to demonstrate. Try to click on the picture below.

The Parthenon

Cool eh? It works on all pictures in my photo gallery too. But I do find my new blog theme and features not working so dandily on IE6. I’m not gonna spend time fixing it though, nobody should honestly be still using IE6. By any chance if you are, get Firefox for goat’s sake. Or at least upgrade your IE6 to IE7. Get with the times man!

New Skin

Simon | February 21, 2008

It has been a little over a year since I started this blog. The past year have seen little changes on the presentation of my blog. So it’s high time for me to give it a fresh coat of paint.

If you haven’t noticed, I have changed the theme for my blog and I have upgraded the Wordpress that powers the blog. The new theme is much more customizable so it would be easier me to introduce minor changes to the theme periodically. I have contemplated on moving my photos off to an external site like Flickr but I haven’t decided yet.

All and all I’m pleased with the upgrade and I hope you will appreciate it too. You can leave me some comments on how you like/hate the new look.

Long Story Short

Simon used to think that he's got life all figured out.
He couldn't have been more wrong.
This is his blog, his story.
